Gnosis
“Know thyself! This was written on the posterior part of the threshold of the temples of mysteries in ancient Greece. This is the only purpose of life, that the human being must know himself as a child of God, as a God himself over the Earth, so that the Earth can be transformed into a beautiful garden where liberty, equality, and fraternity is the law of love for all humans.”
The mission of Gnosticism today is to fulfill and help in the way that it has for ages: to deliver the wisdom and methods needed for people to realize their inner Being, in other words to Self-realize. A progressive and multi-leveled program of studies and practices are offered toward this aim.
The Gnostic teachings reunify science, art, philosophy, and mysticism to revive and integrate the highest values of the human being. We edify the mind, emotion and action with the virtues and principles of the Being. Science becomes more human, art more sublime, philosophy more intuitive, and mysticism more objective.
With the support of a long-standing lineage of teachings and current Gnostic teachers, practitioners and community, we progressively connect with and develop ourselves as an Essence or Consciousness, as a Soul or True Human Being, as a Being or Spirit, and even beyond this. Little by little, we realize and live our true nature and the true nature of all of creation.

The BC Gnostic Centre
We are an affiliate of The Gnostic Society Samael Aun Weor. We are a community dedicated to the study and living of the Gnostic teachings of Samael Aun Weor. We offer donation-based classes, courses and retreats, all with the aim of helping the awakening of consciousness and leading each to his or her Inner Being.
We offer classes and courses open to new students on various topics:
- Meditation and the Development of Consciousness
- Gnostic Psychology and Knowing One’s True Nature
- Dream Yoga and Astral Unfolding
- Kabbalah, the Tree of Life, and Our Multidimensional Existence
- The Gnostic Psychology of the Chakras
- The Mysteries of Christmas, Easter, Halloween and other holidays (holy days)

Beyond introductory classes, we offer levels that build on a growing progression of applied study and practice. As we apply the teachings within ourselves and within our way of thinking, feeling and being, theory becomes living experience. Philosophy regains its meaning: love of wisdom. We find art in creative comprehension and awakened imagination, inspiration and intuition. We discover the intimate relationship between science and mysticism and we experience the meaning of religion from the Latin, religare, to reunite with divinity.
Levels for progressive and deepening study and practice:
The first advanced level program of study and practice is referred to as First Chamber, delving into 33 topics over the course of several months. This series of progressive didactic and practice is essentially structured into eight levels of Being and Knowledge.
Next is Meditation Chamber. In this long-term and multi-leveled meditation program we learn techniques and practice of concentration and meditation, silencing the mind, developing higher faculties such as imagination and intuition, expanding and awakening consciousness, experiencing the greater reality of our Being, knowing ourselves and dissolving psychological hindrances.
Continued study and authentic application of what is studied unfolds into subsequent levels.

Emerging from over 50 years of the teachings of Gnostic Master Samael Aun Weor, The Gnostic Society was founded in 1999, born from a sincere yearning to reclaim and continue the initiatic Gnostic spirit lived and expressed by this master. We are a global community of Gnostic schools and centers dedicated to the experiential, mystical and practical study, meditation and application of Gnostic wisdom.
Each school/centre within the Gnostic Society is organized into levels or “chambers” of progressive study, practice and experience of Gnosis. We organize regionally, nationally and internationally for retreats to share a depth of practice, learning, community, and experience.

The Gnostic Master Samael Aun Weor was born in Colombia in 1917 with the birth name Victor Manuel Gomez Rodriguez. From a very young age he was interested in transcendental aspects of life and searched the authentic path of awakening consciousness in various teachings and schools: Theosophy, The 4th Way, the Masonic tradition, Gnostic-Rosicrucianism, mystical Christianity, indigenous wisdom, kabbalah, alchemy, and various religions and spiritual philosophies.
Master Samael’s lifelong mission was to deliver the complete path toward the Self-realization of the Being or, in other words, the total and exact science required by anyone of any religion, race, culture, or creed who wishes to fully develop the human soul. The path he taught is the Path of the Bodhisattva, that mysterious and ancient wisdom long hidden in the bosom of every great religion.
Samael Aun Weor wrote over seventy books, gave hundreds of lectures and formed the worldwide Gnostic Movement. His work has inspired millions of people around the world to enter the Path toward the Self-realization of the Being. These outer accomplishments are merely a reflection of the work he accomplished internally, spiritually. And yet he still said,
“Do not follow me. I am just a signpost. Reach your own Self-realization.”
Gnostic centres throughout the world continue to live and fulfill the mission of the Venerable Master Samael Aun Weor by living and teaching the three factors for the revolution of the consciousness:
- To die to one’s egotistical desires and psychological “I”
- To be born as a soul
- To sacrifice for humanity
